HOMECOMING WEEKEND – September 25th & 26th

The School Calendar arrived in the mail this week, telling us that this year’s Homecoming events have been moved ahead a couple of weeks.  The Varsity football game will be held at 7 pm on Friday evening against Granville under the lights on the CHS main field, which is looking mighty fine.  Our varsity team is looking mighty fine, as well.  Their first game against Lake George on September 4th brought them a fabulous win, 61-24.

All Alumni should be sure to register just inside the main gate @ Friday’s football game for their free gift.  This is also a great opportunity to update your information with us if it has changed (mailing address &/or email address).  The Homecoming Dance will be held in the CHS gymnasium @ 7 pm on Saturday evening.

Please also mark your calendars for Saturday, October 17th, for the Annual Cup Games.  Field Hockey will start @ 5 pm and Soccer will follow @ 7 pm.

On Saturday, June 13th, we welcomed the Class of 2015 as our newest alumni and hope they’ll all rejoin us @ their 5th reunion, if not before.  We also treated 28 alumni from the Class of 1965, celebrating their 50th year as alumni.  We’d like to thank this class for the generous donation of $2,355 they made back to the Alumni Association.  This will be a tremendous help with future reunion banquet costs.

We also celebrated the Classes of 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010, along with many other alumni from classes prior to 1965.  Eula Deitz Sutliff and Christine Gabriel Viele from the first graduating class of the Corinth High School (1936) were again our oldest returning graduates, celebrating 79 years.  We hope to see them both again in 2016 to celebrate their 80th year as CHS Alumni!

Alumni of the Year – We chose a very deserving couple to share this honor in 2015.  Donald and Lorraine Niles were born, raised and have spent all of their lives in Corinth.  They graduated from CHS in 1949 and 1951, and we couldn’t begin to count the hours they have served as volunteers to several organizations within our community and beyond since that time.  Lorraine attended SUNY Potsdam and Albany Business School and then worked in a variety of administrative roles at CHS for most of her adult life.  Don served in Korea with the US Army and then went to work for International Paper Company for over 40 years.  The Niles’ children were all graduates of CHS, Michael in 1973, Dennis in 1982 and Michelle in 1986.  They currently have 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  We don’t ever recall them not being at an Alumni Banquet and we know that they are two of our organization’s biggest fans.  This was a great opportunity to honor them for all that they have so tirelessly given to the Corinth Alumni Association and the entire community of Corinth, NY.

Make note of this very important date!  This is when we will celebrate our 113th Annual Alumni Association Reunion Banquet @ The Holiday Inn in Saratoga – doors open @ 6 pm for registration and cocktails, with program and dinner to follow @ 7 pm.  We will be celebrating the following classes and have listed their present class contact next to the year.  If you are a member of this class, please reach out to your contact, updating any of your contact information and offering to help them spread the word about YOUR reunion.  If you are a class contact, please start working on locating and notifying the members of your class.  If you are not able to do this, please let us know as soon as possible so we can find someone else to take care of this very important function for your class.
